Play It Safe: Playground Etiquette Tips
Our city parks here in Arizona are a popular destination in the summertime. Today our Liv North Scottsdale Blog is all about playground etiquette. Whether you are headed to a city park or an indoor activity center, you’ll want to keep these tips in mind. At Liv North Scottsdale, we like to share pertinent information and we think this post will be helpful for members of our apartment community.
Encourage Taking Turns
We know it can be difficult for youngsters to wait for their turn, but that is one reason it’s important to keep an eye on what’s happening on the playground. Take care to not monopolize a playground feature or let your child boss other kids around. If you see someone is waiting to use a certain feature, give your child a couple of minutes’ warning that they need to play on something else soon. Use the situation as an opportunity to teach your child about sharing.
Keep an Eye On Your Children
No matter how well-behaved the child, they can still get up to quite a bit of mischief when they want to. Put away the cell phone or tablet and engage with your child. Be aware and watch what is happening. It’s helpful for safety and for getting along with others.
Being prepared at the playground can ensure everyone has a great experience. Take some time and put together a playground kit to take with you when you head to the playground or a local park. Items to consider including are tissues, wet-wipes, band-aids, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a plastic bag. With these items readily available, you will be prepared to deal with the little emergencies that often happen at the playground. For example, scraped knee? A quick wipe down, a band-aid, and a kiss will get a child back to the slide in no-time.
We hope these tips will help members of our apartment community enjoy time spent on the playground this summer! Have a great August! Thanks for reading today’s post.
